Description

No. 19 Shaftoe Street is a charming mid terrace two bedroomed cottage, with a large sunny yard for eating out in the summer and a real fire for cosy cooler nights. The cottage is on a quiet road in Haydon Bridge with on street parking and only 5 minutes walk from the Tyne valley railway that connects you with Carlisle or Newcastle. Haydon Bridge is just off the A69 and it is only 35 minutes into Newcastle, 40 minutes to Carlisle or 10 minutes into Hexham. Haydon Bridge has beautiful walks from the door and great cycling routes and is surrounded by South Tyne valley countryside, Allen Valleys, North Pennines, Hadrian's Wall and in easy reach of the coast or Lake District.

Haydon Bridge has a great coop and other small independent butchers, village shop, pet shop and pharmacists. Great pubs, The Havelock having featured in the Good Food guide. There is a primary and secondary school, doctors surgery and chapels and churches. A proper community feel and lots going on.

The house has a large living room with open fire and great under stair storage. Downstairs there is a large study for homeworking or other flexible use. The main bedroom is large and airy with great storage and hanging space. The second bedroom will take a small double bed or single with a large storage cupboard over the stairs. The bedrooms are separated by the central staircase and accessed down their own little corridor which is great for privacy. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, a good sized south facing window, a large storage cupboard that would once have had the water tank in and a big heated towel rail for warm dry towels.

The kitchen is just off the living room, it is modern, light and airy with a Stoves electric cooker with halogen hob and undercounter fridge. The kitchen door opens onto a covered tiled sun trap that is perfect for sitting and eating out. Undercover are the two utility outhouses that have the new Worcester combi boiler and washing machine. There is space for a small freezer. The house has oil fired central heating, it is double glazed and insulated.

I would want to decorate the study before any one moved in and will do work on the front of the house to upgrade its appearance. I hope you would want to make this your home and decorative changes would be welcome in discussion with myself. I live in Hexham and am on hand to help if needed.
