Description
Taigh na Caillie and 36 Bernisdale is being advertised as one property and is situated in the small crofting township of Bernisdale, which is 7 miles from Skye's administrative centre and largest village, Portree. It is secluded and quiet, but accessible, being on a regular bus route between Portree and Dunvegan on the West coast of Skye. It lies close to Loch Snizort, the largest sea loch on Skye, where there are otters, salmon, plenty of seabirds, including golden and sea eagles, seals and other wildlife. From the house there are good views of the Quirang, an iconic mountain which is part of the Trotternish Ridge o the north, and the famous Cuillins to the south. The property is just a mile from the traditional Skeabost House Country Hotel, where you can enjoy bistro dining, a fine traditional restaurant, bars, snooker, salmon fishing and a nine hole golf course.
Bernisdale is a friendly community and growing, with several young families and children living there. The local primary school, Macdiarmid’s, is 3 miles away, and currently has 69 pupils on the school roll, with 4 teachers. It has a good reputation with pupil numbers increasing year on year. http://www.educationscotland.gov.uk/Images/MacDiarmidPSNCIns240412_tcm4-716045.pdf
Portree has a brand new Community High School serving the entire island, with 800+ pupils, - facilities include a leisure centre, fitness suite, indoor games hall, climbing wall, community library and 25 metre swimming pool.

Watersports and hill-walking being popular activities on the island with plenty of opportunities to participate.
This property has been our family home for 27 years and has a great atmosphere. The original detached bungalow was extended in 2003 to enable my elderly Mum to have her own living space, where she remained independent until she was 92. The extension has three storeys, doubling the size of the original dwelling, and was built to a very high standard, by the family firm.
The property sits in a third of an acre of natural garden, mostly laid to lawn, rockeries and shrubs with trees that were planted by us more than 20 years ago - oak, ash, rowan, holly, birch, hazel and beech. There is parking space for 4 or 5 cars is in a layby just opposite the front gate. Double gates in front of the new annexe lead on to a gravel hard standing and another parking space within the grounds, ideal for disabled access should it be required.
This property has great flexibility and is currently generating considerable income as a small holiday business.
