Ons Verlangen is a fully working barge, built in 1898 and still motorised with original Gardner 6 litre engine. The Borg Warner gears were sought after by the manufacturer for their historical archive. In her early life she was used to transport reeds and agricultural products in the Netherlands and then was used by the Dutch Resistance during WWII. She spent time as an oiler, supplying fuel to larger vessels on the Maas River before having her tanks removed and converted to a houseboat in preparation for her life on the Thames.
