Description

4 bed detached house in a beautiful rural location with large established flower and veg gardens, polytunnel and orchard/forest garden, in around 1.25 acres. A delightful family home, and a place to live the Good Life, with beautiful views, great walks from the door, and lots of trees and wildlife. Within easy reach of Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Kidderminster and the West Midlands. Nearest village 1.5 miles with thriving pub and primary school.

Orchard House has 4 bedrooms, 3 reception rooms, a utility room, a conservatory, a lovely light and sunny kitchen/dining area, and a cosy warm wood-burner for those winter nights.

The situation is quiet and rural, down a short track away from the minor road. There are fantastic views and sunsets looking across from the front of the house off to the Clee hills in the distance. And beautiful walks right from the door, down the track to the river, or up through woods and beyond.

The gardens are the star feature. Full of life and colour - lawns and mature shrubberies, a wildlife pond, an extensive veg plot and a 50ft polytunnel to feed the family, and an orchard/forest garden full of spring-time flowers and autumn-time fruit - a wooded area with bluebells, several mature apple trees, plums, raspberries, blackberries. Not forgetting the damsons and apples nearer the house, and 2 productive fig trees!

The wildlife here is wonderful. We have frogs and newts and dragonflies in the pond; a hedgehog family is currently in residence in the undergrowth near the house; blackbirds, robins and thrushes thrive in the hedges. Buzzards amd kestrels fly above, and herons fish the river below.

This corner of South Shropshire is delighfully secluded and properly rural. Stottesdon, a mile on the foot path over the fields, or 1.5 miles on the road, is the nearest village, and has a pub, doctors surgery and a great primary school. Cleobury Mortimer (5 miles) has a secondary school (the school bus passes by here), shops, doctors etc.

Bridgnorth (20 mins), Ludlow (22 mins) are delightful country towns with history, health-food shops, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets! Kidderminster (24 mins) has more shops, and is on the way to Birmingham (only 1 hour to the centre).
