This property has been our family home for 27 years and has a great atmosphere. We are offering to rent our secluded semi-detached bungalow for six months initially, but with the possibility of longer term. Pets and children are welcome, but sadly, not smokers. The property is let furnished.
We are situated in the small crofting township of Bernisdale, which is 7 miles from Skye's administrative centre and largest village, Portree. We are on a regular bus route between Portree and Dunvegan in the west. We are close to Loch Snizort, the largest sea loch on Skye, where there are otters and plenty of seabirds and other wildlife, we have views of the Quirang, Trotternish Ridge and Cuillin Mountains, and are just a mile from the traditional Skeabost House Hotel, where there is bistro dining, restaurant, bars, snooker, salmon fishing and a nine hole golf course. Bernisdale is a friendly community and the local primary school, Macdiarmids is just 3 miles away, and currently has 69 pupils on the school roll, with 4 teachers. It has a good reputation with pupil numbers increasing year on year.
Portree has a brand new Community High School with 800+ pupils, a leisure centre, fitness suite, indoor games hall, climbing wall, community library and 25 metre swimming pool. There are 3 banks, two supermarkets, local butcher and baker and deli, plenty of cafes. There is also an active sailing club in Portree Bay. Watersports and hill-walking are popular activities on the island with plenty of opportunities to participate.
The property, 36 Bernisdale, has a natural garden, mostly laid to lawn, rockeries and shrubs with trees that were planted by the owners 20 years ago - oak, ash,rowan, holly, birch and beech. If you don't like trees, then you won't be happy here! Parking space for 4 or 5 cars is in a layby just opposite the front gate.
