The Area

Lower Edmonton is very popular with families. The excellent transport links, particularly via road, make it excellent commuter territory.

One of the main attractions in N9 is the Lee Valley Leisure Complex on Meridian Way, which offers a huge range of different activities. The complex includes the Lee Valley Golf Club, which is an 18 hole course. Other sporting activities are catered for by the Lee Valley Athletics Centre and Picketts Lock indoor Bowls Club. Other facilities include a camping and caravan park and an Odeon cinema, which is one of the largest in the South East, with 12 screens. There is also a wide selection of bars and restaurants in the complex.

Edmonton Leisure Centre, also known as Edmonton Green Swimming Pool, is another centre which offers a range of facilities. It is located on The Broadway and offers a 25m indoor swimming pool, a gym, an exercise studio, a crèche, a special gym for children, an indoor court suitable for badminton, football and basketball and a café.

Another local service is Edmonton Green Shopping Centre on Market Square, which has a wide range of high street stores and a number of greengrocers in the adjacent market area. Edmonton Green Library can be found inside the South Mall. An alternative lending service, Ridge Avenue Library, is located on the junction of Church Street and Ridge Avenue.

Green open spaces in the area include Jubilee Park on Galliard Road, which is relatively large, with approximately 52 acres of land. Inside the park there are a number of different attractions including a recreation ground, ornamental gardens and a golf course. Nearby Pymmes Park opened as a public park in 1906 and boasts a historic walled garden. The area around Fore Street, just north of the Sterling Way and Church Street, is Edmonton Conservation area. A conservation area is an area that is considered to be of special architectural or historic interest.
